Peshawar Zalmi, captained by Babar Azam, defeated Karachi Kings in the opening match of the eighth season of Pakistan Super League at the National Stadium in Karachi.
Earlier, Kings choose to field first against and win the toss. Kings were chasing 199 runs from Zalmi, however they were unsuccessful and were 197-5 at the end of the 20 overs.
Changes in Karachi Kings Squad
A few alterations were made by Kings for the sports gala this year. After Babar Azam joined Peshawar Zalmi, Imad Wasim has taken over as captain once more.
To begin their PSL campaign, Karachi Kings were relying on Matthew Wade and the expertise of seasoned player Shoaib Malik.
Sharjeel Khan, a left-handed pitcher, and Matthew Wade, an Australian, opened the innings but Sharjeel returned to pavilion on score 0.
The fact that Captain Babar is the only player to have reached the 2000-run milestone in the top cricket league and is the leading run-scorer in the history of the Pakistan Super League has kept him in the public eye.
Shakib Al Hasan, an all-rounder from Bangladesh with experience, has also joined Zalmi and was available for yesterday’s game against Kings.
