The Karachi Kings of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have unveiled their brand-new PSL Season 8 tournament anthem, which also includes club captain Imad Wasim and other players.
Before the Kings’ first game versus Peshawar Zalmi at the National Stadium in Karachi today (Tuesday), the song “Ye Hai Karachi” was made available.
The song that captures the energy and excitement Karachi Kings bring to the PSL, which has now become a global brand, was sung by Asim Azhar, Ali Azmat, and Raamis Ali.
The video for the anthem also features Mohammad Amir, Sharjeel Khan, and other players in addition to Imad.
Imad Wasim leading Karachi Kings
Under the direction of Imad, the Kings won their first PSL championship in 2020. In that season, Babar Azam, who is now a member of Zalmi, won player of the tournament.
However, the Kings dropped nine of their ten games in 2022 while Babar served as captain. The Kings chose to make significant changes to their team after last season’s performance. They gave Imad the leadership back and swapped Shoaib Malik from Peshawar Zalmi for Babar.
Imad, who has taken over as captain once more, appeared assured to lead his squad from the front. Imad stated they have gotten past Babar’s departure and are looking forward to playing this season during a news conference on Monday in Karachi.
“I have already said this, Babar’s departure will not affect our team. Players come and go, but the team remains committed to its performance,” he said.
“Babar’s trade has nothing to do with me. It was our team owner’s decision. He gave him the captaincy last year and he was the one who traded him this year. Being a member of the franchise, our job is to ensure we win matches and nothing else,” he added.
