The renowned Centaurus Mall in Islamabad has finally reopened after being shuttered for a few weeks owing to a significant fire incident that took place in its food court on October 9, 2022.
The change occurred as a result of the Chainstore Association of Pakistan (CAP) requesting that the mall be allowed to reopen after the management there successfully met all structural and safety requirements.
A seven-person fact-finding commission earlier under the direction of an Additional District Magistrate found that the fire started in the food court and spread quickly owing to cooking oils and other flammable elements.
Irfan Nawaz Memon, the DC for Islamabad, had directed the civic organization to lock the structure for an indeterminate amount of time after the event.
Additionally, according to the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, everyone was able to leave the premises safely without any injuries being recorded.
After the mall was blocked off and inhabitants were removed from the three residential towers, the investigating committee that the deputy commissioner of Islamabad had established had its initial meeting.
The committee also looked at the management of the Centaurus Mall while on its investigation. The multi-story commercial and residential building’s fire prevention system and alarms were also examined by the committee at the same time.
