At the posh tower Centaurus in Islamabad’s F-8 district, a large fire has started. The structure includes a five-star hotel, two residential towers, a four-story commercial centre, and a business tower.
Eyewitness reports state that the fire started in the tower facing the F-10 district and has now spread to many of its levels, potentially causing serious structural damage to the opulent edifice.
The firefighters from the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) are on the scene to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading further, despite the fact that the cause of the incident is unknown and there is no official word on the number of casualties.
Together with Centaurus management, the CDA and RDA firemen are making every effort to keep the fire under control. However, it appears that it will take some time before the fire is finally put out based on the images going around on social media.
Here are a few images that illustrate the size of the fire.
