AMD recently announced the Radeon RX 7900 GRE desktop graphics card. Initially announced in China, the company has confirmed its global availability, implying that it will be available in other markets around the world very soon.
AMD with RX 7900 GRE
The RX 7900 GRE, also known as the Golden Rabbit Edition, is a variant of the RX 7900 XT with slight GPU reductions and more significant memory configuration reductions. However, it is less expensive.
In comparison to the 84 compute units of the 7900 XT, the 7900 GRE has 80 compute units. The game clock has been reduced in frequency from 2000MHz to 1880MHz.
Furthermore, the memory configuration is reduced from 20GB 20Gbps 320-bit to 16GB 18Gbps 256-bit, resulting in a memory bandwidth reduction from 800GB/s to 576GB/s.
The Infinity Cache has been reduced from 80MB to 64MB. Furthermore, the board power has been reduced from 315W to 260W. AMD positions the 7900 GRE as better suited to 1440p resolution than 4K.
The company’s marketing material also directly compares it to the 6800 XT, implying that it is its successor. As a result, its performance should be comparable to the RTX 4070.
The AMD 7900 GRE is priced at 5299 RMB in China and will cost $649 in the United States. In comparison, the Radeon RX 7900 XT was released for $899 globally.
In addition to the reference AMD model, it is available from PowerColor, Sapphire, and XFX. While it became available in China on July 28, there is currently no information on its global availability or whether it will continue to be known as the same product in other markets.
