The Xiaomi Watch S1, which has been rumoured for a while now, has finally been announced in China. While the device is only available in China right now, it should make it to India eventually. The company currently sells the Mi Watch Revolve and the Mi Watch Revolve Active in India, and the Xiaomi Watch S1 was launched alongside the Xiaomi 12 series in China today. The company also announced the MiUI 13 platform, which will run on its smartphones, with a tablet version called MiUI Pad. The software should also be coming to other devices soon.
Xiaomi Watch S1 specs and features
From a design point of view, the Xiaomi Watch S1 looks a lot like the Mi Watch Revolve, though it also resembles Android-based smartwatches from Fossil. The device has a round dial, with a metallic finish and two crowns on one side of the device. It also has sapphire-crystal glass on the top.
It also has a 1.43 inch AMOLED display, along and supports 117 sports modes, according to the company. It’s unclear what all sports and exercises the Watch S1 will support at the moment, but the Mi Watch Revolve did have a decent collection. Whether the tracking through those modes is accurate is a whole other question though.
Furthermore, the Xiaomi Watch S1 will also support GPS, allowing users to track their movement without carrying the phone outdoors. The company also said that the Watch S1 has 24×7 health management features, and uses its sensors to monitor various vitals.
In addition, the Xiaomi Watch S1 is also quite water resistant with 5ATM water resistance for those who want to take it swimming. The company said that the battery will last 12 days on each charge, and will support wireless charging through Qi wireless charging technology.
The Watch S1 doesn’t seem like an update to the Mi Watch Revolve. Instead, the device feels more like a premium smartwatch from Xiaomi.
Xiaomi Watch S1 price and availability
The Watch S1 is obviously not available in India right now, but the company should be bringing it here as well. We’ll just have to wait and find out when that will be. It’s worth noting that the company hasn’t said anything about global availability right now.
Until then, the Xiaomi Watch S1 is priced at 1099 Yuan in China and is set to start selling from December 31 onwards.
