Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC), a well-known and popular carmaker in Pakistan, has addressed the recent untrue rumor making viral in the nation regarding the shutdown of its operations permanently.
The business has formally rejected the reports, stating that the brief outage was brought on by inventory problems and a backlog in Letters of Credit (LC) issuance.
IMC emphasized that as part of their standard operating procedures, production units had shut down till June 8.
Toyota IMC CEO Statement
According to sources, Ali Asghar Jamali, CEO of Toyota IMC, disclosed the company’s ambitions to bring new automobile models in Pakistan, including a locally produced hybrid SUV that drastically decreases carbon emissions.
He didn’t name the specific hybrid SUV, but it’s assumed to be the Corolla Cross. Jamali promoted the advantages for Pakistan’s environment, the decrease in fuel imports, and localization initiatives.
He asserted that Toyota’s first locally built hybrid SUV will cut carbon emissions by 35%.
Senior automotive analyst Zafar Ali made the observation that IMC had committed a substantial sum of money—more than $100 million—in September 2021 to localize hybrid electric cars (HEVs).
The company is passionate about speeding up the manufacturing of partially indigenous HEVs in Pakistan regardless of the difficulties that the sector faces.
