The International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I Rankings were updated this year, and Pakistan fell one spot to number four.
The Green Men are now in the number four position. In the Test format, they are ranked #6.
India has surpassed Australia to become the best team in both the Test and Twenty20 International rankings.
Following the annual update that dropped results from the 2019-20 season and reflected all series completed since May 2020, the ICC announced that “India have overtaken Australia to regain No.1 position in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings.”
Pakistan rankings may effect in annual update of ICC after ODI series
In the rankings, which weigh series completed before May 2022 at 50% and subsequent series at 100%, India’s rating has risen from 119 to 121 because their 2-0 loss to New Zealand in March 2020 no longer counts. In December of 2021, India topped the rankings for the final time.
Australia’s 2-0 and 3-0 home series wins over Pakistan and New Zealand in 2019–20 have been removed from the rankings, while their 4-0 win over England in 2021–22 has had its weighting reduced from 100% to 50%, resulting in a drop from 122 to 116 rating points.
Please take note that Australia and India will meet on June 7 at The Oval for the World Test Championship 2023.
After the current Pakistan-New Zealand series concludes on May 10, the annual update to the ODI team rankings will be finalized.
