According to the news agency on Wednesday, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has given notice of the daily closure of two runways at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport for crack repair work.
The Karachi airport’s two runways have developed fractures that might interfere with airline operations. The expected closure of runways 25-L and 7-R for crack repair work was announced in a NOTAM by the CAA.
CAA Revised Plan for Karachi’s Airport Runways Repair Work
According to the revised plan, the runways will be off-limits to aircraft for five months each day. The aviation authority informed all airlines of the change.
Flight operations will continue while repairs are being made on backup and secondary runways.
Lahore Airport Runway Repair Work
Flight operations at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore were put on hold in February 2019 while the runway was being repaired.
The runway was promptly shut down for maintenance, according to the Civil Aviation Authority, after the captain of a flight from Paris to Lahore told the authorities about cracks in the runway that he had noticed upon landing.
