Amazon has announced that it is entering the Cricket live streaming space from January 1, 2022. The announcement comes as a special New Year treat for cricket fans around the world. Amazon, in a blog post, mentioned that the New Zealand vs Bangladesh series will be streaming live on the Amazon Prime Video app.
The company had already announced its partnership with the New Zealand Cricket Board in November 2020. With this partnership, Amazon has picked up the exclusive rights to telecast New Zealand cricket matches. All the matches will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video app. This move, of course, justifies the recent price hike of Prime membership from Rs 999 to Rs 1499.
Amazon Prime Video Cricket Live Streaming – What This Means For Cricket Fans?
With the exclusive streaming rights, Amazon will be the first platform to stream all the New Zealand cricket matches. This includes all three formats of matches – ODI, T20, and tests. This includes tours of Indian Women & Men’s teams in Feb 2022 & Nov 2022 respectively.
Amazon Prime Video will start live streaming the cricket matches from January 1, 2022. The first series will include all the matches between Bangladesh and New Zealand and is scheduled to conclude on 13 January. Prime Video users can tune in at 3:30 AM IST (Indian Standard Time) to watch the match live. Amazon will post the highlights of the matches shortly after it ends so that users can revisit the app to watch any moment at any time.
Other than the India and Bangladesh tour of New Zealand, Amazon will live stream South Africa’s tour in February 2022, Australia’s tour in March 2022 and Netherland’s tour in March/ April 2022.
How to Watch Live Cricket Matches on Amazon Prime Video?
To watch the live cricket matches, Amazon Prime Video users will have to go to the app. The match posters will be visible on carousels on the homepage, or else, they can search for “New Zealand Cricket” in the search bar. Users will be able to stream these matches online through their web browser, mobile devices, internet-connected TVs, set-top-boxes, Fire TV sticks, and other compatible devices.
