The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Test team for 2021 includes three Pakistani players.
Fawad Alam, Pakistan’s seasoned middle-order batsman, and the pace pair of Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali have been recognized for their outstanding performances in the game’s longest format over the past year.
With his first year back in the national Test team, Fawad Alam was excellent. A century against South Africa in Karachi and a century against the West Indies in Kingston were among the outstanding innings by the eccentric batsman.
In 2021, Fawad racked up three centuries and two half-centuries. In 13 innings of Test cricket last year, he made 571 runs at a good average of 57.10.
In the calendar year, Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali were also remarkable. In 2021, Shaheen finished as the world’s second-highest wicket-taker, while Hasan finished as the world’s third-highest wicket-taker.
In the nine matches he played in the calendar year, Shaheen took 47 wickets at an average of 17.06. Hasan was also outstanding, taking 41 wickets at an average of 16.07 in eight matches.
Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain who guided his country to the World Test Championship victory, has been named captain of the team.
The ICC Test Team of the Year contains three players from India, two from New Zealand, and one each from England, Australia, and Sri Lanka, in addition to three Pakistani players.
