Meta’s WhatsApp is apparently testing a function that will let users to share files, including as images and videos, with nearby users who do not have an internet connection.
Business Standard said that the company is also working on introducing an in-app dialler for users.
The functionality that allows users to exchange photographs, videos, documents, and other items with other WhatsApp users is now available for testing on the platform’s beta edition.
However, Meta has yet to begin testing the in-app dialler in beta release, despite the fact that it is supposedly only present in the app’s early version.
According to WABetaInfo, the new function requires users to be in close proximity to other WhatsApp users. Users will be able to share files over a locally established network once they have found the other users.
Meta has also allowed users to cancel these capabilities at any moment. In terms of security, WhatsApp has encrypted file sharing from end to end, much like messaging.
Meta AI
Meta had recently integrated its free artificial intelligence assistant, Meta AI, to its social media platforms WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.
On April 18, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the decision, claiming that the AI assistant can answer queries, produce animations, and generate graphics.
WhatsApp introduced a new custom sticker creation capability for iOS earlier this year, allowing users to modify photographs from their camera roll to create unique visual combinations. In an update, the app included the option to generate stickers from photographs.
Users can use the tool to trim components from photographs and create unique visuals. The improvement includes the ability to add features such as images, drawn-on updates, animation effects, and more.
