WhatsApp has been long rumored to be working on multi-device support. The messaging app has reportedly designed a new user interface to link devices to an account. However, the company has not rolled out and was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta update on iOS. Apart from this, WhatsApp could also get a new storage section. The features are currently under development.
Use WhatsApp on other devices
As per Wabetainfo, WhatsApp has unveiled a new user interface for linking devices. “The label says “Use WhatsApp on other devices” but actually it’s still not possible because WhatsApp is still working on it. The button “Link device” is used to create a new session with WhatsApp Web. In future, the company will use to create sessions with other devices,” the report stated.
WhatsApp has been working on this feature for the longest time. Currently, users can access WhatsApp from two devices at the same time which includes a phone and a desktop. You cannot log in to WhatsApp from two phones but can do it from a laptop or a computer. The Facebook-owned messaging app is working to let users add up to 4 devices using a single account. This means that once the feature gets rolled out, you will be able to log in from your iPad and iPhone at the same time.
Another feature that was spotted in the latest beta update for iOS was the new storage user interface. The storage interface has received a new Manage storage option in the beta update. “In the same update we also see a new UI for Storage Usage, including all tools implemented in WhatsApp for Android. To reach the new Storage Usage, you have to open Storage and Data in WhatsApp Settings. You can notice that WhatsApp has changed the order of those sections here, giving priority to Storage Usage,” Wabetainfo report reads.
Earlier, WhatsApp had officially rolled out the Always Mute option for both Android and iOS users. This new feature will allow users to mute WhatsApp groups forever
