On Monday the Pakistani PTA started discussions with TikTok’s senior management on reopening of services by the Chinese-owned app
TikTok, in a try to have meaningful engagement with the PTA, and in compliance with instructions of the Authority with respect to moderating the illegal online content in accordance with the laws of Pakistan, held a detailed virtual meeting with PTA.
During the meeting, TikTok representatives highlighted the attempt that has been taken besides sharing future strategy to better content self-discipline in line with local laws.
The chairman of PTA asked TikTok’s representatives to provide tangible timelines on when the proposed actions can be taken.
Chairman PTA while accepting the efforts of TikTok asked for tangible timelines for the proposed actions. Both sides settle to continue their engagement to reach a mutually agreed mechanism to continue to provide the app to the users.
