Several QAU students who participated in unapproved Holi celebrations were issued show-cause notes. This happened after the Higher Education Commission (HEC) issued a contentious letter criticizing the event, only to back down in the face of public pressure.
According to the official notice, the festival took place on June 12 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., and the students were accused of planning and attending the event without authorization from the institution or its event management committee. The teenagers ignored repeated warnings from campus security and continued to play music at an uncomfortable volume.
QAU students asked for explanation
Their behavior was ruled immoral because it could have insulted or physically hurt other students, weakened the QAU’s authority, and caused chaos. The notice required the students to submit a written response to the disciplinary committee by 12:30 on July 18. If you do not show up, the committee will make a conclusion based on the evidence and documents at hand.
Fines, loss of dormitory lodgings and financial benefits, suspension of admission, temporary restrictions from entering the premises, cancellation of examination results, suspension for a particular period, and even expulsion were all made clear to the students in the notification.
