The Sony LinkBuds truly wireless earbuds appear to be getting a follow-up in the near future – the near future being Wednesday, May 18.
The information comes from well-known informant Jon Prosser, who claims that the earbuds will be unveiled on that date.
He also expects the premium Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones to be released on May 12.
Prosser also revealed the Sony LinkBuds S’s price: $199 (about £160/$AU280).
Their predecessors were priced at $179 / £149 / AU$299, so we’re looking at a little more pricey offering.
Sony leaks have been busy, with plenty of information leaking about the Sony WH-1000XM5 as well: greater battery life and smarter noise cancellation could be on the table for the latest version of Sony’s over-ear headphones.
Manufacturers are hurrying to get more of these products on the market because they know how popular they are with customers.
Apple, of course, has played a significant role in this, and the long-awaited Air Pods Pro 2 are expected to be released before the end of the year.
Google is also working hard to catch up: the Pixel Buds A-Series are presently available, and there are reports that a pair of Pixel Buds Pro will be available soon. They will be more pricey and high-end.
