Last year, Shell granted Lotus International a license to operate under the Shell Ride brand. The company has now revealed its electric scooter and e-bike lineup.
The Shell Ride SR-5S e-scooter has a range of about 32 kilometers and a top speed of 24 kilometers per hour. The SR-5S has a starting price of Rs. 130,000.
The remaining models are the SR-3B e-bike, the SR-4S e-scooter, and the SR-6S e-scooter.
The SR-6S has a detachable battery pack, whereas the SR-4S is smaller and less powerful. The SR-4S costs around Rs. 120,000, while the SR-6S costs around Rs. 186,000.
The Shell Ride e-bikes are much more expensive, with prices ranging from Rs. 280,000 to Rs. 326,000.
According to the report, neither Shell nor Lotus International manufacture these products. They are made by a mysterious manufacturer whose identity is unknown.
It is believed that while Shell does not own a majority stake in Lotus International, it is marketing these products under its brand to strengthen its position as a proponent of a green future. This move is reportedly part of Shell’s strategy to appease Dutch courts, which have set 2030 as a deadline for the company to reduce its carbon emissions by half.
