Apple’s current M1 silicon is used in the MacBook, Mac, and iPad lineups, therefore the corporation need a large number of them. By extension, this means that whomever obtains a piece of Apple’s M1 chip supply chain stands to make a lot of money.
This means that whoever wins the contract to supply Apple’s chip hardware stands to make a lot of money. According to a new story in Korean media quoting industry insiders, Samsung is aiming to capitalize on this potential.
FC-BGA substrates are required for modern high-density chips with circuit connections, and Samsung intends to sell them to Apple. Naturally, when it comes to Apple M2 manufacture, this will result in significant revenues.
According to the rumor, Samsung’s Electro-Mechanics division is close to agreeing to produce FC-BGA substrates for Apple’s next M2 chip. It’s worth noting that Samsung is investing more than $1 billion in Vietnam’s FC-BGA manufacturing facilities.
This means that whoever gets to supply the hardware for Apple chips is in for some big financial.. The business has spent $241 million in its existing chip fabrication facilities in South Korea.
