Samsung has finally activated the skin temperature sensor on the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro after several months of waiting. It is, however, currently limited to one feature: cycle monitoring based on skin temperature.
Samsung’s Watch 5
However, this is only the beginning. On the company’s Korean forum, a Samsung official confirmed that more features are in the works and will be released in future software updates.
However, the exact release date is unknown because local authorities in each region may require certification for health-tracking features, stymieing rollout progress.
One anticipated feature is the display of the wearer’s current temperature, which is now hidden and only used for internal calculations by the watch.
These new capabilities are quite likely to be offered with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 series and then integrated to the Watch 5 series.
The new smartwatch versions are anticipated to be released in July, along with the company’s next-generation folding phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5.
Improved Foldables
When it comes to foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to have a considerably larger cover display.
The secondary screen of Samsung’s upcoming foldable phone is expected to be folder-shaped and span almost the whole upper half of the phone, according to Ice Universe, who claims to have “100% confirmed” the information.
