Qualcomm is launching a new device in China later this week. The release makes no mention of a specific chipset, although we anticipate seeing the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, which has been widely leaked in recent months. We might also see the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, which is an overclocked version of the SD8G1.
Qualcomm’s 7 series processors will make their debut under the new naming scheme introduced last year with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Qualcomm appears to intend to remain with this naming approach for all chipsets.
There are no official specifics on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 at this time, but earlier rumors have revealed some facts.
According to these sources, the SD7G1 will be powered by ARM’s Cortex A710 and A510 CPU cores, which will operate at 2.3GHz and 1.8GHz, respectively. It will be equipped with the Adreno 662 GPU.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, on the other hand, will be a speedier variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It will use TSMC’s 4nm process rather than Samsung’s 4nm node. According to leaks, the new flagship processor will have a 1 + 3 + 4 CPU core design, with a Cortex X2 prime core clocked at 2.99GHz. It will have three Cortex A710 cores and four Cortex A510 cores.
