Officials clarified that the program remains active, and citizens should avoid believing false reports spread through social media. Patients are still entitled to healthcare at designated private hospitals across Pakistan. Sehat Card Still Operational
Authorities have assured residents that Sehat Card services are fully functional. Hospitals included in the program continue to provide free treatment for eligible patients. The initiative is considered one of the largest healthcare projects in Punjab, aiming to provide quality medical services without financial burden. By keeping the program active, the provincial government has reaffirmed its focus on public health and social welfare.
CNIC Replaces Physical Sehat Card
According to the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (PHIMC), citizens no longer require a separate health card. Instead, the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) serves as the Sehat Card. To benefit, families must ensure their records are updated in NADRA’s system. This change simplifies access to healthcare and reduces delays in treatment, enabling more residents to benefit seamlessly from the free medical coverage offered under the scheme.
Easy Eligibility Verification
Punjab residents can quickly confirm their eligibility for Sehat Card services. By sending their CNIC number via SMS to 8500, citizens can check their registration status. To make the process easier, PHIMC has also established a dedicated helpline. The service operates daily from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., assisting the public in resolving hospital-related concerns and ensuring smooth utilization of health facilities without unnecessary obstacles or confusion.
KP Expands Sehat Card Services
While Punjab continues Sehat Card operations, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has announced an expansion of its free healthcare program. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur directed authorities to include additional hospitals, both public and private, under the scheme. This step aims to increase healthcare coverage and ensure more citizens receive free treatment. The expansion highlights the growing importance of Sehat Card programs across multiple provinces in Pakistan.
Meeting on Healthcare Reforms
The decision to expand KP’s Sehat Card program was made during a Health Department meeting chaired by Chief Minister Gandapur. Senior officials, including Health Advisor Ehtesham Ali, Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Ikramullah Khan, and Health Secretary Syed Adeel Shah, attended the meeting. Members of the KP Health Foundation and Sehat Card Plus team were also present, highlighting the province’s coordinated efforts to strengthen its healthcare system.
