The News Agency stated that on Wednesday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) matters were handed over to a committee headed by Najam Sethi by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
For the past few days, there have been media rumors suggesting that Ramiz Raja may step down as chairman of the board and be replaced by former PCB chief Sethi.
The facts state that the premier requested the creation of the committee in a letter to the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination.
Shahid Afridi, a former Test captain, Sana Mir, a former captain of Pakistan’s national women’s cricket team, Shafqat Rana, a former cricketer, Mustafa Ramday, Ayaz Butt, Noman Butt, Gul Zada, Haroon Rashid, Gul Mohammad Kakar, and Chaudhry Arif Saeed are also members of the committee.
The committee’s task is to reinstate the PCB’s 2014 constitution.
After receiving approval from the federal cabinet, a notification for the committee’s formation would be released.
According to sources, certain board members started reaching out to Najam Sethi a few days ago in an effort to keep their jobs, according to Cricket Pakistan.
Chief selector Muhammad Wasim agrees that the position cannot be held indefinitely.
On the other hand, sources claim that Ramiz Raja is considering the possibility of a court case regarding his potential removal.
Despite the fact that the probable new arrangement appears to be ready in this regard, the immediate priority would be to seek a stay order, sources noted.
