The LQ campaign was made worse when Peshawar Zalmi defeated Lahore Qalandars by 8 runs at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and chose to field first in the second match of the day.
Peshawar Zalmi achieved the highest score in PSL 9 with a 211-4 total thanks to a career-best 88 runs from rookie Saim Ayub.
Captain Babar Azam, 48, and Rovman Powell, 46, provided him with strong support as the KPK team scored the enormous total.
The in-form Haris Rauf was not available for Lahore Qalandars because of an injury that will prevent him from playing in PSL 9.
The most effective bowler was still LQ skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi (4-0-33-3), as the other bowlers were battered all over the pitch.
In the 20 overs given, Lahore Qalandars’ innings ended at 203-6, with South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen finishing at 104*.
Only Arif Yaqoob (3-0-21-0) was able to maintain the positive economy after Saim Ayub (1-0-3-0) got things going in the second innings.
For the whole of the game, Luke Wood (4-0-46-1), Salman Irshad (4-0-39-1), Paul Walter (4-0-41-1), and Naveen-ul-Haq (4-0-50-2) were expensive. Saim Ayub’s thunderous blow earned him the title of Player of the Match.
