A NUST student has created an automated traffic signal system that will operate solely on traffic observation, thereby eliminating the possibility of traffic congestion.
The signals, according to the information provided, will be managed by a modern system and an app, preventing traffic congestion on any road.
Instead of remaining green or red for the specified amount of time, the signals will flash in response to traffic conditions.
Furthermore, the signals will benefit emergency and security vehicles. It can recognise an ambulance, a fire truck, or any other special vehicle and prioritise open passage for them.
Captain (Retired) Muhammad Usman, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority, has expressed interest in the new signal technology and has invited the student to meet with him.
Police in Islamabad are cracking down on illegal parking
The traffic division of the Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) has launched a crackdown on illegal parking in the Blue Area.
The department stated in an official tweet:
Sidewalks are meant for pedestrians. Please don’t turn them into a parking lot and be a responsible citizen.
Blue Area is one of the twin cities’ main business districts, and parking is frequently an issue. People are forced to park their cars along the roadside due to a lack of parking.
While the people have praised ICTP for attempting to address the traffic flow issue, they have also asked the administration to provide enough parking spaces in Blue Area to eliminate these issues entirely.
