After installing iOS 16.5, several people have found that their iPhones’ batteries drain much faster than before. Twitter and the Apple discussion forum have been flooded with questions and concerns from users regarding the new battery drain problem.
“The battery depletion is getting worse,” one Apple forum user griped. When I go to bed, I switch off my phone and when I wake up in the morning, the battery has dropped to 20%. After I enter my password and all of my alerts load, the battery drops to 2% very immediately. It took place in a matter of minutes.
Some Twitter users complained that after installing iOS 16.5, their iPhones’ storage capacity was reduced.
Notably, iPhones’ chronic battery problems are not a recent phenomenon. After nearly every significant upgrade, users have complained on social media about battery drain.
However, that problems with battery life following an iOS update are typical, and that this is because the updated iOS is constantly running in the background, doing things like rescanning images.
While it is common for your iPhone’s battery to drain after installing an update, Apple assured customers in a tweet in April 2022 that everything should be back to normal in about 48 hours. When asked about iOS 15.4’s draining battery life, Apple’s support team responded, “Thanks for reaching out!” Our team is eager to assist you. Up to 48 hours following an update, it’s typical for your apps and features to require some fine-tuning.
The complete list of iOS 16.5’s new functions:
iPhone’s sports news section
The Apple News app now features a dedicated sports section as of iOS 16.5. Fans may track their preferred teams, players, and competitions. In addition, Apple News’ My Sports score and schedule cards link directly to the games’ respective pages, where fans may get much more information.
Apple announced the new feature with the following statement: “Sports tab in Apple News gives easy access to stories, scores, standings, and more, for the teams and leagues you follow.”
Apple has released a new Pride Celebration wallpaper in recognition of the LGBTQ+ community and its rich cultural traditions. The new wallpaper has some cool animations and can be used on both the lock and home screens.
Fixes for bugs
With iOS 16.5, Apple has addressed a number of bugs, including those that might cause Spotlight to become unusable, prevent Podcasts from loading in CarPlay, and prevent Screen Time settings from syncing between devices.
Interestingly, a new Siri command to begin and end screen recording was included in an earlier beta version of iOS 16.5. This functionality was deleted in subsequent betas and has not made it into the final version of iOS 16.5.
