Larry Hebert and Juan Bettancourt resigned. They opposed the US military’s role in Gaza. Andrew Miller, a senior US State official, also resigned. He disagreed with the Biden administration’s policies in Gaza.
Larry Hebert Jr. quit his job. A little girl, Hind Rajab, was killed. She was caught in a fight in Gaza. Larry is a US airman. He felt very sad. He saw kids dying. He could not support this. He worked on selling weapons to Israel.
Juan Bettancourt also quit. He saw people dying in Gaza. He felt upset about the US helping. The US gave weapons to Israel. He saw many people getting hurt. This made him very sad. He talked to NBC News.
Both Larry and Juan said Israel’s actions were very bad. They felt very upset. Many Americans felt the same. About twelve US officials have quit now. This includes Josh Paul, Harrison Mann, Tariq Habash, and others. They did not agree with the US policy in Gaza.
In February, Aaron Bushnell protested dramatically. He set himself on fire. He opposed US support for Israel. Bushnell died in the hospital later. This gained global attention.
The Gaza Conflict Continues
Internal opposition in the US government is growing. The conflict in Gaza continues. This creates more division over US foreign policy.
Miller criticized President Joe Biden’s support for Israel. He helped issue sanctions on Israeli settlers in February. These settlers attacked Palestinian communities. Miller served as a senior policy adviser. He worked on military issues for the White House.
In May, Major Harrison Mann resigned. He opposed US support for Israel’s actions in Gaza. He quit the Defense Intelligence Agency in November.
The Biden administration has not responded yet. The criticism of its support for Israel is growing.
