A brand-new four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in mass communication introduced by the Karachi University (KU) on Friday.

Furthermore, for the academic year 2024, the university is accepting applications for the BS in Digital Media Marketing program.
However, KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi presented the degree program on Friday at a ceremony in the Department of Mass Communication’s Sarwar Naseem Hall.
Speaking to the crowd, Dr. Iraqi stated that this is a degree program with a wide range of applications worldwide and that it is a great option for our children.
He claimed that because of the tremendous growth of communication channels and technological advancements, the world has become a global village where information cannot be withheld and people respond and engage with one another instantly.

For a variety of reasons, people nowadays make more money from trash than from gold, but we are regrettably not making any use of it, he continued.
The Karachi University VC stated that while one can succeed in the digital world with honesty and inventiveness, moral principles and ethics should never be compromised.
“The world has changed a lot and command over technology is essential for global reach.
This course will benefit those who can handle computers well, know the latest trend of the web and internet, and have a good knowledge of languages,” he said.
Speaking to the gathered journalists, Dr. Iraqi stated that nothing can take the place of traditional media because it continues to serve as the cornerstone of all new media platforms and will always be the primary force in the media landscape.
Newly Introduced Programs by KU
Furthermore, he mentioned that the Karachi University regularly introduces new degree programs.
In the last three to four years, the institution has offered the following: a BS in Medical Laboratory Technology; a BS in Poultry Science; Public Health; a BS in Human Nutrition and Dietetics; and a BS in Sports Business Management, which launched in 2023.
Dr. Asmat Ara, the chair of the department of mass communication, stated that students will be able to produce their own content and become entrepreneurs as a result of this degree program.
Although seven private universities have implemented this program thus far, she continued, KU is the first public university to start offering the aforementioned degree program.

However, Dr. Asif Iqbal, the president of the Digital Marketing Association of Pakistan, was among the speakers.
He expressed his desire to participate in the program in any way and mentioned that he was a member of the team that designed it.
