Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce Dr. Gohar Ejaz met with a team from the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (PPMA) led by Chairman Farooq Bukhari.

The minister’s main agenda item was to discuss and plan measures to increase pharmaceutical industry exports. During the meeting, an ambitious aim of one billion dollars in exports for the industry was set.
Not only in his official capacity, but also on a personal level, the minister expressed his steadfast dedication and support to the pharmaceutical sector.
He assured the delegation of his commitment to establishing an atmosphere conducive to the expansion of the industry.
He also emphasised the significance of focusing on exports in order to improve the country’s economic situation.
He asked the pharmaceutical delegation to develop a comparative policy framework with other countries in the region.
The minister instructed that this framework be produced by Wednesday.
In order to align the industry with regional peers and facilitate expanded exports.
The meeting ended on a happy tone, with pharma leaders. And thanking the minister for his support and dedication to their industry.
It is worth noting that the country’s pharmaceutical product exports were $328.208 million in FY23.
