Huawei recently startled the tech community by discreetly releasing its next flagship, the Mate 60 Pro, in Chinese retail outlets without any significant teaser marketing or a full launch event.
Huawei Mate 60 Pro Specs
- Display and Design
The display, which features a trio of punch holes containing the selfie camera and the 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor.
It’s perhaps the most intriguing aspect. Huawei is no stranger to huge notches or multiple selfie cameras, but we’ve never seen three distinct punch-hole cutouts like this before.
Huawei has unveiled a large 6.82-inch 10-bit LTPO OLED panel with a resolution of 2720 x 1260 pixels and a flexible 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate.
The Mate 60 Pro enhances the visual experience by including a second-generation Kunlun Glass layer on top of the screen.
The upper part of the White and Green models is made of glass, while the Purple and Black editions have a faux leather finish.
Software and Internals
The listing does not specify the phone’s chipset, but we think it will be Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9000 flagship SoC.
This comes with up to 1 TB of storage capacity and 12 GB of RAM. A nano memory card can be used to expand storage.
This is the first phone to receive the updated Harmony OS 4.0 software from Huawei.
Furthermore, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro expands its capabilities in China by enabling satellite messaging.
Cameras
The iconic main camera ring features a recognisable 50 MP primary module with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF).
It is also found in the Mate 50 Pro and P60 Pro. Notably, it has a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0.
An ultrawide-angle camera with a 12 MP sensor and an f/2.2 lens joins this.
While the third camera has a 48 MP sensor and an f/3.0 telephoto lens, as well as OIS and AutoFocus (AF).The alien-looking selfie camera combination consists of a 13MP ultrawide device and a 3D TOF sensor.
Pricing and Battery
The smartphone is powered by a large 5,000 mAh battery that supports both wired charging at 88W and wireless charging at 50W. It even has a 20W reverse wireless charging option, which is impressive.
Despite the fact that the Huawei Mate 60 Pro has storage options of 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB, the Chinese online retailer only lists the 512 GB version for $960. This suggests that the starting price will be less than $900.
