The instant messaging platform has already released its update in February, adding a slew of features including profile picture (PP) creation, chat-wide translations, emoji categories, and more. WhatsApp competitor app Telegram rolled out new features and updates in order to its app to improve user experience.
This feature allows users to customize their PP and use emoji as their PP. Users can customize their PP with any emoji (animated or static) and choose a background. Additionally, users can suggest emojis as PP to contacts and use them in conversations. Here’s a step-by-step guide to setting an animated emoji as your Telegram PP.

- Launch the Telegram app on your iOS device.
- Go to the Settings tab and tap your PP.
- Tap the Change Profile Photo button below your PP.
- In the pop-up window, select “Set emoji”.
- Select an animated emoji from the emoji deck. You can also choose a background color for the emoji.
- After completing all the settings, click the “Finish” button.

- Open his Telegram app on your Android device.
- Tap the three horizontal lines menu button in the left corner.
- Tap your profile picture and select the Edit button. Choose an emoji to set as your Telegram PP.
- You can also choose the background color according to your preference.
- Finally, click the “Finish” button.
Once everything is done, your contacts will have an animated emoji as their PP. You can also change your account privacy settings and choose which contacts can see your PP.
