What exactly are Instagram Reels?
Reels are Instagram’s newest video feature, allowing you to record and edit short videos of up to 30 seconds within the app. You can currently add music, effects, captions, non-interactive stickers, and drawings. Please keep in mind that not every account has music yet.
Where can I see Reels?
The Explore page contains the main Reels area. Simply tap on the magnifying glass at the bottom of your screen to access your explore page. Once on the Explore page, look for the large square at the top of the page that is dedicated to Reels.
You can bring up the Reels and watch in its full uncropped view by tapping on the Reels square. By scrolling vertically, you can view additional reels.
Individual “Reels Libraries” created by individual accounts (including yours) can be accessed by going to the account profile page and tapping on the Reels icon found beneath the highlights next to the IGTV icon.
Here’s how to make a reel step by step:
- Begin by tapping the camera icon in the upper left corner of your home feed. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Reels.
- Next, tap and hold the center bottom record button to record, or tap it once to begin recording and once more to end the clip. You can also add a video from your camera roll by tapping it in the bottom left corner of your screen.
- Tap the left-pointing arrow to watch, trim, or delete the previous clip you just recorded.
- Tap the right-pointing arrow to add stickers, drawings, or text to your reel or to download the reel to your device.
- You can edit when your text appears in your reel by using the slider at the bottom.
- To change your cover photo, tap the right-pointing arrow, then cover.
- Then, write your caption and include hashtags.
- Choose where you want to distribute your reel. If you want to explore stories instead of sharing, tap Stories.
- Tap Share, followed by Done.
