The Higher Education Commission has announced that several major exams in Balochistan have been postponed due to security concerns. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of both students and exam staff. HEC emphasized that the postponement is solely for safety reasons and not due to any other factor.
Which exams are affected
According to the HEC statement the Higher Education Aptitude Test HAT and Undergraduate Studies Admission Test USAT scheduled for 1 February 2026 in Quetta and selected areas of Balochistan will not take place. These exams are only postponed in Balochistan and students in other provinces will follow their original schedules.
Postponement only in Balochistan
HEC clarified that this decision affects only students and exam centers in Balochistan. In other provinces exams will continue as scheduled. Students are strongly advised to regularly check the official websites of HEC and the Education Testing Council to stay updated on any changes.
Reason security concerns
The HEC highlighted security concerns in Quetta and surrounding areas. The current situation was deemed risky for conducting exams safely. The commission prioritized the protection of students and staff and decided that postponing the exams was the most responsible measure.
New schedule and updates
No new dates have been announced yet. HEC has promised that the updated schedule will be released soon and students will be informed through official notifications. Candidates are advised not to rely on rumors or unofficial sources.
Advice for students
HEC recommended that students continue their exam preparation and stay informed through official channels. This postponement is temporary and all students will get the opportunity to complete their exams once the new schedule is announced.
