Lahore, February 3, 2025 – In a major step towards sustainable mobility, foodpanda, Pakistan’s premier food and grocery delivery platform, has introduced electric bikes into its delivery fleet. This initiative is a collaboration with the Government of Punjab and Wasl, a non-banking finance company. The primary goal is to reduce carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly delivery solutions.
Official Launch Event in Lahore
The launch event, held in Lahore, was graced by notable attendees including the Parliamentary Secretary for Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control, Shehryar Malik, and the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee, Ahmad Iqbal Chaudhary. They distributed electric bikes to foodpanda riders, marking the official commencement of the EV program in Punjab.
Supporting Sustainability and Ecological Goals
The program is aimed at enhancing the representation of electric vehicles (EVs) within foodpanda’s fleet, helping to support the Government’s mission to combat environmental degradation. By integrating electric bikes into their network, foodpanda intends to lower emissions significantly while offering cost-effective solutions for its riders.
Government’s Commitment to Green Transportation
The Punjab Government has expressed strong support for the initiative as part of its broader commitment to sustainable transport. Shehryar Malik, Parliamentary Secretary for Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control, remarked, “This launch represents a significant step forward in our journey towards a sustainable future. Foodpanda’s adoption of electric vehicles sets a new standard for the delivery industry in Pakistan.”

Financing Solutions for Delivery Heroes
Foodpanda riders now have access to electric vehicle financing through Wasl Investment Finance, a non-bank finance company regulated by the SECP. Wasl specializes in tech-driven credit solutions, providing riders with an affordable option to transition to electric bikes.
