The shocking results of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) annual examinations have exposed the dire state of Sindh’s educational system.
On Saturday, the board’s official Facebook account revealed the surprising findings, revealing that not a single student from Karachi’s 25 government institutions or its 13 private colleges managed to pass the yearly intermediate exams.

The board also withdrew the recognition certificates for these colleges for such a poor performance.
These colleges’ low enrollment rates drew criticism for their leaders as well.
In related news, the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part-II second annual examination results for the academic year 2021–2022 were released earlier this month by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).
For the HSSC Part-II test, the overall pass percentage was 73.99 percent. FBISE Chairman Qaiser Alam thanked the successful students at the result release ceremony.
Government agency lowers MCQ percentage in matric and inter examinations
The percentage of multiple choice questions (MCQs) in classes nine, ten, eleven, and twelve has decreased from 40% to 20% in accordance with the revised pattern.
Short-answer questions and detailed response questions have been granted a 40% share of the remaining questions in the test, compared to the 40% that MCQs previously held in the SSC and HSSC exams.
This choice was made during a meeting of the Steering Committee’s subcommittee, which was presided over by Ghulam Akbar Laghari, the secretary of education for schools.
