Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), Muhammad Zohaib Khan, has informed that the Pakistani participation delegation has gained recognition at the GITEX Africa 2023 kickoff event in Morocco.
According to the most recent data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Africa has a population of 1.3 billion people spread across 54 nations, with a nominal GDP of $2,260 per person. The African GDP has increased to $6,370 per person in terms of purchasing power.
This is significant, and Pakistan could export $1 billion worth of IT to Africa alone in as little as two years, according to him, if the necessary linkages were made with African governments and the business sector.
It is important to mention that P@SHA, in collaboration with the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT), the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), and Tech Destination Pakistan, has sent a powerful delegation of Pakistan’s leading IT companies to the event.
The Pakistani delegation will be represented by Syed Amin Ul Haque, Federal Minister for IT & Telecom and Chairman of P@SHA. In fact, GITEX is the biggest event in the world for information technology, and ITeS is a union of the public and private sectors.
Chairman P@SHA At GITEX Africa 2023
Chairman P@SHA said that from May 31 to June 2, 2023, Morocco will host the inaugural GITEX Africa conference. Africa is the proud host of this event, which really unifies every group in the world’s innovation ecosystem.
He continued by saying that GITEX integrates into the highly connected tech ecosystem spanning 80 nations of the world and provides to Pakistan strong connections and important new contacts that highlight the successes and possibilities of Pakistani IT companies.
He also recalled that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had stated publicly that he is counting on the IT sector to strengthen Pakistan’s economy by closing the trade gap and bringing in foreign currency.
GITEX Africa, according to Khan, offers a chance to fully integrate the second-largest continent in the world into Pakistan’s entrepreneurial and innovation economy. GITEX Africa boasts the resources Pakistan needs to further its mission to dynamize its digital economy.
He emphasized that GITEX Africa is sponsored by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, organized by the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, and held in the Digital Development Agency (ADD) of Morocco.
