The new Brix Extreme mini PC, according to Gigabyte, is the world’s most powerful of its kind, a daring claim in the face of Apple’s recently introduced mini but potent Mac Studio.
The Brix Extreme, on the other hand, appears to be a powerful Windows PC, given that it runs Intel’s latest mobile hardware and is well-equipped in terms of connection.
Gigabyte’s new Brix Extreme, which will be available in Q2 for an undisclosed price, promises a lot of computing power in a small (44 x 134 x 139 mm) package.
This mini PC is also meant to be quiet, with Gigabyte’s internal testing revealing that it can keep noise levels under 30dB while under load and peak at 35dB with the CPU boost mode enabled.
Underneath are Intel’s 12th-generation Core mobile processors, ranging from a 6C/8T i3 to a 12C/16T i7 chip. Despite the lack of RAM capacity, the mini PC will enable DDR4 dual-channel 3200MHz memory.
A separate GPU option is not available (unsurprisingly), although Gigabyte claims that Intel’s Iris Xe graphics perform 10% better than previous generations.
Furthermore, owing to HDMI 2.1, the Brix Extreme can connect to up to four 4K@60Hz displays and output at 8K resolution. Buyers of the taller edition will be able to add an extra 2.5″ SSD/HDD, and Gigabyte will also sell an upgrade kit that adds an extra m.2 2280 slot, a LAN port (in addition to the mini PC’s 2.5G Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6E connection), and an RS232 connector.
The Brix Extreme will come with a VESA bracket for installation on the back of a monitor to keep it out of sight. There’s no news on how much this little PC will cost, but expect to pay a premium when it’s released later this year.
