Ahmad Nawaz, an Oxford University student, and Army Public School (APS) attack survivor was reportedly forced to resign as president of the Oxford Union last night as a result of claimed threats and extortion, according to the Daily Mail.
The specifics state that in June, Ahmad Nawaz, 21, became the second Pakistani to serve as the head of Oxford’s premier debating club. He said that as a non-British Muslim at the institution, he felt discriminated against.
Despite being unwell, students reportedly voted 251 to 164 to have him removed from his job.
Regarding this, he claimed that current events have put him in a state that he has not experienced in a while, and he added that he has struggled with society’s enduring prejudice.
Nawaz has described his experience at the debating club as a traumatic feast of political smears, threats, gossip, and blackmail.
However, some pupils complained to a British publication, Cherwell, that Nawaz was conceited and didn’t put in enough effort.
Nawaz’s chief of staff, Israr Khan, meanwhile, referred to the vote as a “political endeavor” to undermine the leader and said that he shouldn’t fall victim to dirty tactics.
It is important to note that Nawaz was defeated in the secret vote before Thursday’s discussion, 251-164.
Nawaz, a Lady Margaret Hall student studying philosophy and theology, survived the APS assault in 2014 when he was just 14 years old. In contrast, Haris, his younger brother, was one among the 132 kids who chose martyrdom during the slaughter.
