Thousands of Vehicles Impounded
During the 24-hour operation, police impounded thousands of vehicles, mostly motorcycles and rickshaws, for repeated violations. To regularise driving activity, more than 42,500 licences were issued in a single day. Over the past week, police issued more than 257,000 challans and collected heavy fines. The high number of licences shows drivers are now moving toward legalising their travel. Accidents Still a Major Concern
Despite strict measures, road accidents remained alarming. In the last 24 hours alone, sixteen people lost their lives and more than 1,600 were injured in over 1,400 crashes. Rescue teams shifted many serious cases to hospitals, while minor injuries were treated on the spot. Authorities stress that real safety will come only when drivers change their behaviour on the roads.
