Hydel, the most affordable electricity produced in the nation is produced by hydropower.
Hydel Electricity in National Grid
WAPDA is working hard to increase the amount of hydel electricity in the National Grid by putting into practice a least-cost energy generation plan.
In the water and hydropower sectors, a number of massive projects, such as the Mohmand Dam, the Diamer Basha Dam, the Dasu Hydropower Project, and the Tarbela 5th Extension, are being built with a phased completion timetable.
WAPDA Will Generate 20,700 MW
Through these projects, the WAPDA will generate 20,700 MW of clean, affordable, and environmentally friendly hydel power, up from 9,500 MW in the next four to five years.
