The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and all senior employees of power companies have received notice from the power division that the monetarily assessed cost of free electricity units will remain frozen in the future.

Federal Cabinet Approved No Free Electricity For Power Generation Companies Employees
The federal cabinet has approved the monetization of free electricity units admissible to the employees of Wapda and ex-Wapda companies, such as distribution companies (Discos), generation companies (Gencos), National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC), and Power Information Technology Company (PITC), according to a notification released by the power division on Tuesday.
The statement added that “for future, these rates shall remain same and any change therein shall require prior approval of the federal cabinet,” which was approved by the cabinet on October 26.
As a result, the rates listed below would remain fixed.
Notification Stated
According to the notification, Wapda, Discos, Gencos, NTDC, and PITC in-service employees (BS-17 and above) will receive electricity facilities in the first phase at no cost to them after the supply tariff, issued on July 26, 2023, was calculated, excluding taxes and duties.
According to the notification, the grade-17 employees of Wapda and Discos, who permitted for 450 units per month, will now receive payment for the expenses at a rate of Rs. 15,858 per month.
On the other hand, the 650 units allotted to Gencos would bring in Rs. 24,570 a month.
However, Discos and Wapda’s grade-18 workers entitled to 600 units per month, or Rs. 21,996.
In contrast, the 700 units that their Genco counterparts permitted would bring in Rs. 26,460 a month.
Grade-19 To Grade-21 Officers
Similarly, grade-19 workers in Wapda and Discos would receive Rs. 37,594 per month in addition to their entitlement of 880 units.
On the other hand, Gencos, who are eligible for 1,000 units, would receive Rs. 42,720 per month.
The grade-20 workers at Discos, Wapda, and Gencos would now receive Rs. 46,992 instead of their monthly entitlement of 1,100 units.
The 1,300 unit entitlement of grade-21 employees in Discos and Gencos will replace with a salary allowance of Rs. 55,536 per month.
