According to National Institute of Health (NIH) figures, Pakistan recorded 382 daily COVID-19 cases on Monday as Karachi’s positivity rate spiked to 22.65 — the highest in the nation — over the previous 24 hours
The health professionals had issued a warning due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the nation, stating that the increase in new infections could result in the pandemic’s sixth wave.
After 14,437 diagnostic tests were performed over the course of the last 24 hours in Karachi, 234 new illnesses were found.
Hyderabad showed a 0.3 percent positivity rate, followed by Mardan (2.44%), Islamabad (2.31%), Lahore (2.76%), Peshawar (3%), Sargodha (1.64%), and Rawalpindi (1.05%).
The overall positivity rate for Sindh is 6.17 percent, Punjab’s is 1.17 percent, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s is 1.15 percent, and AJK’s is 2.94 percent, according to the NIH.
According to the NIH’s most recent numbers, over the previous day, the virus claimed the lives of two more people in the nation.
The new infections increased Pakistan’s COVID-19 positive rate to 2.85 percent and the overall number of cases to over 1.53 million. They were discovered after diagnostic testing on 13,412 samples.
87 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving treatment in intensive care units (ICUs), and two more people have passed away from the virus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the nation to 30,390.
Pakistan now has 4,632 active cases, including the most recent cases and deaths.
