Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari, the federal minister for interprovincial coordination (IPC), stated on Sunday that Najam Sethi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) interim management committee, only has the authority to hold elections for regional cricket corporations.
In an interview on a private news channel program ‘Doosra Rukh’, Mazari said, “Najam Sethi came to temporarily head the interim Management Committee and only had one mandate to conduct elections in the cricket regions.”
The IPC minister claimed that Sethi entered the race for PCB chairman “on his own,” and that when he was given a different task, it amounted to a “conflict of interest.”
PPP Wants Zaka Ashraf To Be The Next PCB Head
The PPP leadership had requested Zaka Ashraf to take over as PCB chairman, according to Mazari, who also stated that Sethi’s term will not be extended.
The minister also filed a summary stating that he had spoken with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about the matter.
The PCB chairman should be someone chosen by the PPP, according to Mazari, since his ministry is a member of that organization. The PML-N shouldn’t have any concerns in this regard, he continued.
The minister continued by stating that in addition to asking Najam Sethi for a performance and expense report on his tenure, he had also received complaints regarding anomalies in the elections for the regional associations from several sources.
