Some Xbox Live users were unable to start cloud games, play digital games, or make purchases from the shop due to an outage. The problems began at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday night and didn’t end until early Sunday morning.
In a tweet, Xbox Support stated, “Players should no longer be experiencing issues with purchasing, launching games, or joining Cloud Gaming sessions.” “Thank you for your patience. “Have fun gaming!”
This latest round of problems came after a major outage that lasted many hours on Friday night and into Saturday morning.
Some gamers were unable to initiate Cloud Gaming sessions, open digital games, make purchases, or even access Netflix and Disney Plus streaming apps.
Despite the fact that Xbox appeared to have resolved the issues, it appears that troubles with its store, digital titles, and Cloud Gaming reappeared on Saturday night.
While players with their Xbox configured as their “home” console should have been able to play games offline during the outage, several complained that Xbox still required them to login in to play their own games.
This issue highlights Microsoft’s DRM strategy, which makes it difficult, if not impossible, to play purchased digital games offline, as my colleague Tom Warren points out.
