On July 21, Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race. He endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for president. This decision has raised questions about the new nominations for the White House and vice president.
Kamala Harris, the current vice president, is now a top candidate for president. Many Democrats and Biden support her as his successor. Harris has strong backing from within the party.
Kamala Harris might be the new President. Now, we need to find a new Vice President. Two people are trying to get this job: Josh Shapiro, the Governor of Pennsylvania, and Mark Kelly, a Senator from Arizona.
On July 21, Josh Shapiro said he likes Kamala Harris. Shapiro knows her from a long time ago. He said they both helped people and did good work. Josh thinks Kamala Harris is very good and ready to be President.
Mark Kelly also showed support for Harris. He posted on X (formerly Twitter), “I’m confident that Vice President @KamalaHarris is the right person to defeat Donald Trump. She has my support for the nomination. Gabby and I will do everything to elect her as President.”
The nomination process for vice president will start soon. The Democratic convention in mid-August will decide who will be the new vice president. For now, it’s too early to predict who will get this position.
