Vivo S Series Returns After Seven Years With the S2

The Vivo S series returns after a seven-year silence with the launch of the Vivo S2 on August 6, 2026. The last time Vivo used this lineup was the S1 back in 2019, and the brand is now betting that Pakistani and South Asian buyers want flagship-level durability at a mid-range price. Here is everything you need to know before it hits shelves here.

Why the Vivo S Series Returns Now

Vivo walked away from the S series after the S1 because it had the V series doing the heavy lifting in the premium mid-range space. But the market has changed. Nothing, OnePlus, and Samsung have all moved aggressively into the Rs 60,000 to Rs 90,000 bracket in Pakistan, and buyers in that range now expect IP ratings, big batteries, and software support that used to cost twice as much.

Vivo’s own communications team put it plainly at the India launch: young consumers want premium experiences without paying flagship prices. The Vivo S series returns as a direct answer to that shift, sitting above the V series in terms of build quality but below the X series in price.

Vivo S2 Key Specs at a Glance

The S2 packs a genuine set of upgrades that make this more than just a rebadged V phone.

  • Display: 6.83-inch 1.5K 3D Curved AMOLED, 120Hz refresh rate, up to 3,000 nits peak brightness
  • Chipset: MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo (4nm), 8GB LPDDR4X RAM
  • Storage: 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1
  • Battery: 7,050mAh BlueVolt cell with 44W Flash Charging
  • Main camera: 50MP Sony IMX852 with OIS
  • Front camera: 32MP, 4K video on both front and rear
  • Durability: IP68 and IP69 water resistance, plus MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification
  • Thickness: Just 7.99mm, weighing 197g
  • Software: OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, with three OS updates and five years of security patches promised

The Durability Angle Most Reviews Are Missing

Almost every review focuses on the big battery, and yes, 7,050mAh is genuinely massive for a phone this thin. But the more interesting detail for Pakistani buyers is the dual IP rating. IP68 means it can survive being submerged in water up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. IP69 goes further and means it can handle high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. Most phones in this price range carry one or the other, not both.

Add MIL-STD-810H, a US military standard that tests devices against temperature extremes, dust, humidity, vibration, and drops, and the S2 is building a real case for buyers who want a phone that survives a rough day in Lahore’s heat or Karachi’s coastal humidity.

Vivo also includes a 3,800mm squared vapor chamber cooling system for gaming. The brand claims stable 90 FPS in BGMI for up to three hours at 30 degrees Celsius, though those are lab figures. Real-world results will depend on conditions.

Vivo S2 Pakistan Launch and Expected Price

The Vivo S series returns to India first, with sales starting August 11, 2026. Pakistan is expected to follow in September 2026. Based on early market estimates, the S2 should land at roughly Rs 64,999 for the 8GB plus 128GB model and Rs 74,999 for the 8GB plus 256GB version.

At those prices, it goes head to head with the Nothing Phone 3a Pro, the OnePlus Nord 4, and Samsung’s Galaxy A55 in Pakistan’s increasingly competitive mid-range space. Each of those phones has a loyal base here, so Vivo will need strong retail presence and a clear message to win buyers over.

One detail that has gone largely unnoticed in the global coverage is that Vivo’s Smart Call Assistant AI feature at launch will be available only in India and Pakistan. That is a direct signal that Vivo is treating Pakistan as a priority market for its AI software rollout, not an afterthought.

Software and AI Features

The S2 runs OriginOS 6, which brings a set of AI tools including AI Creation, AI Transcript Assist, Circle to Search, and AI Captions. The three-year OS update promise is decent but slightly behind Samsung and Xiaomi, which both offer four OS years at similar price points. For a phone you plan to keep two to three years, this is worth thinking about before you buy.

Vivo is a Chinese smartphone brand and one of the world’s largest phone makers. You can learn more about the company and its product lineup on the official Vivo global website. For Pakistan-specific availability and PTA compliance details, check the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority website, which lists approved device models.

What This Means for Pakistani Buyers Right Now

If you are shopping in the Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 range and want a phone with serious durability specs, a very large battery, and a curved AMOLED screen, the S2 is worth waiting for. The Vivo S series returns with a stronger value pitch than the competition expects.

That said, do not rush. The India launch will produce real-world reviews by late August, and those will tell you how the camera actually performs in daylight and low light, how the software holds up, and whether the gaming claims are realistic. By the time the S2 lands in Pakistan in September, there will be plenty of honest data to help you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Vivo S2 launching in Pakistan?

The Vivo S2 is expected to launch in Pakistan in September 2026, about a month after its India release on August 6, 2026. No official date has been confirmed by Vivo Pakistan yet.

What is the expected price of the Vivo S2 in Pakistan?

Early estimates put the Vivo S2 at Rs 64,999 for the 8GB plus 128GB variant and Rs 74,999 for the 8GB plus 256GB model. These are pre-launch projections and may change once official pricing is announced.

What makes the Vivo S2 different from the Vivo V series?

The S2 sits above the V series in build quality. It adds dual IP68 and IP69 water resistance, MIL-STD-810H military-grade toughness, and a larger 7,050mAh battery that the V series phones in the same price range do not carry.

Why did Vivo bring back the S series after seven years?

Vivo last used the S series in 2019 with the S1. The company revived it because buyers in the Rs 60,000 to Rs 90,000 price bracket now expect premium design and durability, and rivals like Nothing, OnePlus, and Samsung have made that segment very competitive. The S series gives Vivo a clearer identity in that fight.
