Uber has ceased operations in Lahore after leaving Islamabad, Karachi, Multan, and several other cities in 2022. Without any prior notice or alerts, the ride-hailing service in the city has abruptly stopped functioning.
A representative for Uber informed:
We’ve made the decision to cease operating the Uber app in Pakistan. Our subsidiary brand Careem will continue to operate, with the Careem app offering ride-hailing services across Pakistan and earning opportunities for drivers.
Uber stopped providing the Uber app in Karachi, Multan, Faisalabad, Peshawar, and Islamabad in October 2022. The Uber app was limited to Lahore prior to the decision made today.
According to the spokesman, the choice is consistent with Uber’s worldwide expansion strategy, which emphasizes areas with potential for long-term growth.
Uber is making up for this by giving Careem, which it owns, a discount. Careem subscribers can receive a 50% discount on their next five rides by using the code LHR50.
