The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is now part of an international agreement that allows airport authorities to take severe action during flight against disruptive international airline passengers.
On May 1st, 2023, authorities will be able to take legal action against passengers who engage in violent or harassing behavior, smoke, or disobey crew rules.
New law covers loopholes for misconduct in flight
There is now a loophole in aviation law that permits disruptive passengers to avoid prosecution for minor misconduct simply by changing the aircraft’s country of registration, but new restrictions will soon be put in place to close this loophole.
Threatening flight safety, delaying, and disrupting operations, incidents on planes have a negative impact on passengers’ schedules and the crew’s ability to do their jobs.
Disruptive occurrences on flights can compromise safety, lead to delays, and impede flight operations, all of which can have a negative impact on passengers’ travel plans and make for an unpleasant work environment for the plane crew.
The United Arab Emirates has joined the rest of the world in adopting the Montreal Protocol 2014 (MP14) to strengthen the international legal framework for dealing with disruptive behavior on airplanes. This change will offer the UAE additional power to deal with disruptive visitors.
