A PIA passenger stepped forward with a disappointed complaint of a theft incidence that occurred earlier this month on a flight.
On 5 August, PIA Flight PK-210 was in way from Sharjah Airport to Sialkot International Airport when the tragedy happened.
UAE Passenger Claim Regarding Gold Jewelry
The victim had secured a considerable sum of gold worth 93,000 dirhams within his checked luggage.
However, when the traveler arrived in Sialkot, he discovered that the gold, which had been placed in the checked baggage, had gone stolen.
The passenger claims that the theft occurred during baggage handling, maybe between the stages of baggage drop-off and loading into the airplane.
In addition, the victim swiftly alerted the appropriate authorities, including PIA, Sharjah Airport, and Sharjah Aviation.
He took the initiative to inform airport officials about the problem, with the goal of launching a comprehensive internal investigation to identify those guilty.
Despite these efforts, the victim has expressed irritation with PIA officials’ lack of responsiveness.
He revealed that numerous attempts to contact PIA via emails and reminders went left unanswered leaving him profoundly upset with the airline’s handling of the situation.
In pursuit of justice, the victim has filed an official complaint with the airline and hopes to enlist the assistance of Sialkot police, Customs, ASF, and the Civil Aviation Authority in conducting a thorough and impartial inquiry.
Response From PIA
Speaking personally with credible sources, a PIA spokeswoman stated that there are some serious rule and regulation violations in this case, making it difficult for authorities to substantiate the charges.
If the traveler was carrying that much gold, it was required by process to be declared to the authorities and the airline, but this was not done.
Money and jewels are also not permitted in checked baggage, according to the rules.
Furthermore, if the hand carry was examined in during boarding, the passenger failed to notify the crew that it contained gold; otherwise, they wouldn’t have sent it to the hold or asked to grab it out and carry it in by personally.
The gold wasn’t reported to customs authorities upon arrival, which is prohibited the country’s rules.
The traveler grabbed the luggage from the belt and brought it home without a hitch, which is unusual given that customary behavior dictates that people inspect their belongings before bringing them home.
The customer returned after 4 hours, reporting that their possessions were missing, making it nearly impossible to prove that gold was in the bags or that pilferage occurred in airport areas.
It is further reminded that luggage services and boarding/disembarkation processes are handled by local handling agent personnel rather than PIA personnel in both Sharjah and Sialkot.
PIA can file a complaint and demand an investigation on the passenger’s behalf, but this requires correct declarations and tracking.
Seeking relief without any formal necessary paperwork is difficult because there is no proof of the objects being transferred.
