All non-citizens must now have their family names (surnames) added to their passports in order to enter the United Arab Emirates (UAE), after a recent change in regulation.
In this regard, the UAE’s immigration authorities recently released new travel guidelines, stating that foreigners who have only their first name included on their passports will be refused admission, making it impossible for them to immigrate.
The travel advice further clarifies that only travelers arriving after November 21 would be subject to the new restriction.
Meanwhile, authorities have instructed airline management to only provide tickets to travelers whose passports have their full and accurate names.
UAE’s Visit Visa, 60 Days
In accordance with its updated legislation for entry permits and visas, which were implemented to simplify the process for expats, the UAE started issuing 60-day visit visas last month.
The new regulations were a part of extensive reforms known as the Advanced Visa System (AVS), according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) of the United Arab Emirates.
In light of the aforementioned, a travel agency based in the UAE claimed to be among the first to secure a 60-day stay visa for a client, for which they charge AED 500.
In addition, a five-year multiple-entry tourist visa is among the most popular options for tourists because it does not call for a sponsor and entitles the holder to up to 90 days of uninterrupted stay in the UAE, which can be extended for an additional 90 days within the same year.
