According to Netflix, “People migrate. Families expand. Relationships end,” but relax, it’s only referring to a brand-new function called Profile Transfer. This should make switching to a new Netflix account much simpler.
Your watching history, My List, tailored recommendations, saved games (for the 12 of you who play Netflix Games), and other profile information can all be transferred with the new Profile Transfer function.
It’s really easy to transfer a profile. All you need to do is select Transfer Profile under Account Settings on Netflix. You will then be guided through a short procedure that just requires hitting a few buttons to enter your account information.
Although many people should find this useful, it is obvious that Netflix does not want you to utilise shared accounts right now more than before. Simply put, Netflix is now advising you to create a separate account if you are leaving your parent’s home or terminating a relationship.
Despite the criticism, if you move in with someone who already uses Netflix, it will be helpful. The sole situation of password sharing that Netflix does not object to is when one of the two users shares their account and transfers their profile.
Profile Transfer is currently being rolled out and will soon be accessible to all subscribers. Once it has reached each user’s account, everyone will receive a notice.
